Bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir kills 9

Jammu/UNI: Nine people were killed and 15 injured Thursday when a mini bus ferrying them plunged into a gorge in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police sources said the mini bus was headed to Doda from Thathri when near Sui Gowari it fell into a gorge near Chenab.

The rescue operation was launched by the police, locals and the district administration.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh tweeted, "Learnt about tragic road accident near Thatri, Doda. Just now spoke to D.C.Doda Vikas Sharma.

"Injured being shifted to GMC Doda.Whatever further assistance required will be provided. Meanwhile, my sincere condolence to the bereaved families of 8 persons who lost their lives."
