Assam blasts

Blasts occur in primary school near Assam-Mizoram border

Guwahati/UNI: Miscreants triggered two bomb blasts at the premise of Muliwala Lower Primary School in Hailakandi district of Assam near the state's border with Mizoram in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The damaged school is located about 12 km away from Ramnathpur Police Station.

On receipt of information, OC, Ramnathpur Police Station followed by Additional SP(HQ), Kulendra Nath Deka rushed to the spot and started an investigation.

Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner, Megh Nidhi Dahal, and Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath, visited the blast site.

The twin blasts have badly damaged the school building as well as drinking water reservoir and boy's toilet which were under construction.

Security has been beefed up following the incident, an official source said here.
