Patna: Former Bihar Chief Minister and patron of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) Jeetan Ram Manjhi on Friday alleged that the Narendra Modi government was trying to withdraw reservations, given to Scheduled Castes (SCs) as per provision of the constitution.

Manjhi told media persons here that the BJP government at the Centre was not giving its due rights to SCs, given as per provision of the constitution. Attempt was being made to withdraw reservation facilities to SCs, he alleged.

"Privatisation is being made at an accelerated pace but reservation facilities is not being given in private sector", HAM leader said adding that government should introduce reservation in private sector as well.

Manjhi said that his party had made preparations to contest all 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. It was true that his son Santosh Kumar Suman, also president of HAM had said that party would contest five Lok Sabha seats in Bihar but preparation was full for all 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, he stated.

HAM leader said that proposed meeting of opposition parties in Patna on June 12 to evolve unity at national level would be fruitful.

Initiative of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to forge opposition unity at national level to counter BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections, would yield results, he exuded his confidence
