Samastipur, Oct 19 (UNI) High alert has been sounded in Samastipur division of East Central railway, close to Indo-Nepal border in apprehension of terrorist attacks.

Divisional safety commissioner Anshuman Tripathi said here that 15 districts of Bihar coming under ECR`s Samastipur division had been specially put on high alert.

He said after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, which had granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists operating under the patronage of Pakistani intelligence agency, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), were trying to infiltrate into Indian soil through porous Indo-Nepal border.

He said majority of railway region was close to Nepal, adding that all security officers, rail police, local civil and police authorities had been directed to beef up security and take preventive measures to frustrate all subversive elements.

Tripathi said that railway was already in the alert mode in view of Deepawali and Chhath festivals but the security was beefed up further in view of intelligence input regarding possible terrorist attack.

He said district magistrates and police superintendents of 15 districts, including Sitamarhi, East Champaran, West Champaran and Araria, police superintendent of Bagaha, police superintendents (rail) of Muzaffarpur and Katihar had been apprised of intelligence input on the possible terrorist attack.
