Kolkata/IBNS: The West Bengal government has declared the office of Kolkata Police's Jorabagan Traffic Guard at Sovabazar area in north part of the city as a Covid-19 containment zone, after a traffic sergeant and a constable posted in the traffic guard tested positive for novel coronavirus and several other cops with the same traffic guard have been quarantined, officials said on Wednesday.

According to reports, this is the first case in West Bengal where an entire traffic guard office is identified and declared as a Covid containment zone.

Earlier on Tuesday, a traffic sergeant with Jorabagan Traffic Guard tested Covid-19 positive while another constable with the same traffic guard was found positive for novel coronavirus, and both are admitted in hospital isolation.

Kolkata Police officials said that more than 10 policemen of Jorabagan Traffic Guard, who reportedly came in contact with these two cops, have been quarantined.

Police have already sanitized and disinfected the entire building of Jorabagan Traffic Guard.

So far, at least seven personnel of Kolkata Police, including the OCs of two city police stations, have contracted the pandemic virus.
