Bengal Guv Jagdeep Dhankhar visits state assembly again, says 'I am happy'
Kolkata/IBNS: Visiting the state assembly for the second time, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is having a strenuous relationship with the Trinamool Congress government, on Tuesday said he was happy with the welcome he received in the house.
Dhankhar, who was not well received in the assembly during his last visit, on Tuesday said, "I am happy. The mistakes have been rectified."
Just a day after training his guns at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for holding a protest rally against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, and National Register of Citizens (NRC), Dhankhar said, "Generally the leader of the House sits in the front row. I was amazed to see the leader of the House sits in the last row. The Chief Minsiter sits in the last row!"
Setting aside the bitterness, Dhankhar said, "It is time for us to leave behind the uglier incident which has brought a taint in the legislature."
"We (the Governor and state government) must work in togetherness, in tandem and in partnership so that democracy succeeds," he added.
Hours after calling Mamata's rally "unconstitutional" in the backdrop of the violence the state has witnessed in the name of protests against the CAA in last few days, Dhankhar on Monday evening called on the Chief Minister to brief him about the recent situation in West Bengal.
The Chief Minister will visit the Governor's house on Tuesday.
