Bangladesh ferry tragedy: India mourns loss of lives

New Delhi: India on Monday condoled the death of more than 20 people as a ferry sunk in a river near the Bangladesh capital Dhaka.

"We are saddened by tragic loss of lives in a ferry incident in Narayanganj district in Bangladesh. Our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the government of Bangladesh. In this moment of grief, our thoughts and prayers remain with the brotherly people of Bangladesh," MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

More than 20 people died as a ferry sank in the Shitalakkha river near the city of Narayanganj in central Bangladesh.

Several others were injured in the incident.
