Ayodhya Verdict: Jama Masjid Shahi Imam Bukhari not in favour of review petitionÂ
New Delhi/UNI: Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari on Saturday said they accept the Supreme Court judgement on Ayodhya and as far as filing a review petition is concerned, they do not agree with it.
Muslims in the country want peace and they had already clarified that they would accept whatever judgment the apex court delivers, Bukhari told reporters here.
'We accept the court order and the Hindu-Muslim issue which had been going on for several years should come to an end now," Mr Bukhari said.
Asked about possibility of a review petition being filed against the verdict, he said, 'As far as filing a review petition is concerned, I don't agree with it.'
In an historic verdict, the Supreme Court by a unanimous judgment ruled in favour of the Hindus who sought to build a Ram temple at the disputed site as birth place of Lord Ram.
Muslims to be given an alternate land in Ayodhya, a five-judge Constitution bench, led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said, in its landmark judgement.
The apex court said the mosque should be constructed at a "prominent site", allotted either by the Centre or the Uttar Pradesh government, and a trust should be formed within three months for the construction of the temple at the site many Hindus believe Lord Ram was born.
