Ayodhya countdown: States told to heighten vigil
New Delhi/Lucknow/UNI: Ahead of the Supreme Court decision in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid case in Ayodhya, the Centre has asked all states to be vigilant and keep a close watch on the law and order situation.
About 4,000 personnel of the central police forces have been sent to ground zero at Ayodhya, where the disputed place of worship is located.
Sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs told UNI on Thursday that a general advisory has been sent to all the states in view of the Ayodhya verdict.
All states have been asked to take necessary precautionary steps to maintain law and order. The states have been
asked to keep a close watch on all activities post the apex court verdict.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also advised all ministers in the Central Council meeting to avoid unnecessary statements about this decision.
Before the decision, the Uttar Pradesh government has been asked by the Centre to take special precautions in view of the arrival of millions of devotees to Ayodhya.
Families, where marriages or other functions are scheduled for this month, have approached the district authorities asking whether they should go ahead as planned.
Ayodhya District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha told UNI here on Thursday that there will be no problem in organising private functions, including marriages, in the post-verdict scenario.
