Imphal/IBNS: The Assam Rifles troops have foiled an attempt to target security forces by detecting and recovering three improvised explosive devices (IED) and other explosive materials in Manipur's Kamjong district along Indo-Myanmar border.

Based on intelligence input regarding movement of militants along the international bordering areas, troops of Assam Rifles had launched a search operation on Tuesday evening near Indo-Myanmar border.

During the operation, the troops detected and recovered three IEDs along with some explosive sticks, detonators and other materials from the area.

A top official of Assam Rifles said that militants had tried to target security forces by using the recovered IEDs.

Later, the recovered IEDs and other explosive material were handed over to Kamjong police for further legal action.
