Assam reports 2,792 new Covid-19 cases, toll mounts to 197

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam has reported 2,792 fresh positive cases for Covid-19 and eight deaths due to the virus in the past 24 hours.

The Covid-19 toll has touched 197.

With the new cases, the state's overall tally has now surged to 79,667.

Out of the new cases 458 cases were reported from Kamrup (Metro) district, 227 cases from Cachar district, 225 cases from Dibrugarh district,  195 cases detected in Kamrup (R) district.

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also said that the state had conducted 49,510 tests for Covid-19 on Monday. The positivity rate is 5.63 %.

He tweeted, “2792 #COVID cases detected today out of 49510 tests done in the last 24 hours. Positivity Rate- 5.63%. Kamrup (M)- 458, Cachar- 227, Dibrugarh- 225,  Kamrup (R)- 195. Total cases 79667, Recovered 55216, Active cases 24252, Deaths 197.”

56,734 patients have been discharged from hospitals in the state so far and the state has now 22,733 active positive cases for the Novel Coronavirus.
