Assam government appoints ‘Guardian Minister’ for every district
Guwahati: Assam government on Wednesday appointed ‘Guardian Minister’ for each district for better implementation of government schemes, projects and other public welfare activities.
During the cabinet meeting chaired by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati, the state government has allotted the districts to each minister and appointed them as Guardian Minister.
Addressing a press conference Assam Water Resources minister and state government’s spokesperson Pijush Hazarika said that, a guardian minister will be allotted to each district administration for better implementation of schemes and other welfare activities.
The state government has appointed Assam minister Ranjit Kumar Dass as guardian minister of Bongaigaon, Dhubri, Barpeta district, Atul Bora for Dibrugarh, Tinsukia district, Urkhao Gwra Brahma for Baksa, Chirang district, Chandra Mohan Patowary for Darrang, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro) district, Parimal Suklabaidya for Karimganj, Hailakandi, Hojai district, Keshab Mahanta for Golaghat, Morigaon district, Ranuj Pegu for Jorhat, Sivasagar district, Ashok Singhal for Kokrajhar, Udalguri, Cachar district, Jogen Mohan for West Karbi Anglong, Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Sanjay Kishan for Dhemaji, North Lakhimpur, Ajanta Neog for Nalbari, Goalpara, South Salmara, Pijush Hazarika for Nagaon, Sonitpur, Biswanath and Bimal Bora appointed as guardian minister for Majuli, Charaideo and Bajali district.
“The cabinet has appointed guardian minister to implement government policy, administrative reforms and other welfare schemes for public in the district, to review implementation of all centrally sponsored schemes and state own priority programme, to delivery justice, decision making in a quick manner on the application received from general public of the district,” Pijush Hazarika said.
Hazarika also said that, the guardian minister will have to mandatory visit once in a month to the district head quarter, they will also visit district during emergency period, will conduct extensive tour during disaster.
“They will visit, inspect at least one circle office during their visit. They will review the implementation of various schemes in the district and submit a report to the Chief Minister. They will recommend for award for best practices in the district. They will prepare a vision document for the district with the help of district administration and other line departments, will prepare a plan for infrastructural development in the district. They will recommend district specific matter where budget provision required,” Pijush Hazarika said.
The Assam cabinet has also approved the creation of a new department for development of Bodoland, to set up a Bodoland Administrative Staff College in Kokrajhar.
