Anti-CAA stir hits Delhi Metro operations; entry, exit gates shut at 7 metro stations

New Delhi/UNI: In wake of fresh protests which erupted against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) here on Friday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) closed entry and exit gates of four more stations--Jamia Millia Islamia, Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur and Delhi Gate--as a precautionary measure.

The total number metro stations whose entry and exit gates have been closed on Friday is now seven.

''Entry & exit gates of Jamia Millia Islamia are closed. Trains will not be halting at this station,'' DMRC said in its official tweet.

Similarly, access to Jaffrabad, Maujpur-Babarpur and Delhi Gate Metro stations were closed.

Entry and exit gates at 18 metro stations including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat  and Lok Kalyan Marg--which were among 20 metro stations closed by DMRC on Thursday in wake of protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) here--were re-opened last evening.

Earlier on Friday, entry and exit gates of three metro stations--Chawri Bazar, Lal Quila and Jama Masjid-- were closed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as a precautionary measure.
