Ananya Panday denies helping Aryan Khan procure drugs, summoned again for questioning

Mumbai/IBNS: Actor Ananya Panday, who was questioned for two day by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with the drugs-on-cruise case, has denied using drugs or helping Aryan Khan to source them, media reports said.

The 22-year-old Bollywood star was summoned reportedly on the basis of two-year-old WhatsApp chats found on the phone of Aryan Khan, which states that Anana had helped Aryan procure drugs.

Her questioning will continue on Monday as she has been summoned again to appear before the anti-drug probe agency.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's 23-year-old son Aryan was detained by the NCB from a ship off the coast of Mumbai and formally arrested him on Oct 3.

Ananya was on Thursday questioned for two hours after the drug agency raided her Mumbai home and also seized her laptop as well as mobile phone in connection.

She was once again called on Friday and was reportedly questioned by NCB officer Sameer Wankhede for four hours, who is leading the cruise investigation.

Aryan Khan's WhatsApp chats appeared to indicate that Ananya helped him procure weed, media reports quoting NCB sources reported.

The sources said her answers today were not satisfactory, so she would be questioned again on Monday.

"The chats recovered from Aryan Khan's mobile phone reveal that in the year 2018-19, she helped supply drugs to Aryan thrice by providing him the numbers of drug dealers," NCB sources told ANI.

ANI quoted the sources as saying that Ananya Panday's name comes up in a chat that reveals she supplied weed to Aryan thrice including one at a well-attended get-together.

"Ananya denied the supply-related talks in the chat conversation and told the NCB officials that she has never consumed or supplied the drugs," the sources were quoted as saying.

Even as no drugs were found on Aryan, a special court in Mumbai had denied his bail plea stating that his WhatsApp chats appeared to reveal that he regularly indulged in "illicit drug activities".

The court had also observed that the material placed on record points to a "nexus" between Aryan and the drug peddler.
