Kolkata/UNI: Hoping to wrest power from the ruling-Trinamool Congress, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah would begin poll campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the poll-bound West Bengal from Sunday.

Mr  Shah will arrive at Kolkata airport this afternoon and fly straight to Kharagpur in West Midnapore district in a chopper.

He will address a rally at Kharagpur town around 5 pm and meet district and block-level leaders in his hotel in the evening. Actor-turned-politician Hiron Chatterjee is contesting on BJP ticket from Kharagpur Sadar assembly constituency

On Monday, Shah will fly to Jhargram and Bankura districts to address back-to-back rallies.

He will fly back to Kolkata on Monday afternoon and leave for Delhi.

The Jangalmahal regions of Purulia, Bankura, East and West Medinipur and Jhargram will have elections on March 27 and April 1 for 30 seats each.

Notably, Mr Shah's visit comes just days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public meeting at Purulia on March 18 and Kathi in East Medinipur on March 20.
