All private, govt schools in Delhi shut down amid rising COVID-19 cases

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Friday announced all private and government schools in the national capital will remain shut amid rising COVID-19 cases.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: "Due to rising COVID-19 cases all private and government schools in Delhi will remain closed until further notice."

Continuing the surge in daily count, India registered 1,31,968 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health released data.

During the same period, 780 people lost their lives due to the virus.

The death toll due to the virus now stands at 1,67,642.There are 9,79,608 active cases in the country at present.
