All parties doing religion, caste politics while BSP working for all:Mayawati

Lucknow/UNI: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Wednesday accused Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and Samajwadi Party of doing politics of religion and caste and claimed that her party was only one working for upliftment of all segments of the society, irrespective of their caste or religion.

"Ayodhya, Article 370 or triple talaq; BJP, Congress and SP were using these as a tool to do politics of religion and caste but BSP never indulged in such practices and always worked for the welfare and development of all segments of the society,” Ms Mayawati claimed.

She was addressing the party workers, leaders and office bearers in a meeting called here on Wednesday to review the recent defeat in bypolls and strengthen the organisation.

Interestingly, Mayawati claimed that now she would not make any compromise to give importance to the Muslim community.

"The Central or state government might try to misguide the Muslims in the name of Article 370 or other issues, but I will also work for Muslims and not just Munkad Ali will continue as state president of the party but Muslim leader Danish Ali will be the Leader of the BSP in the Lok Sabha replacing Shyam Singh Yadav," she said.

"The Muslim-Dalit vote bank of the BSP in the last Parliament elections had frightened the Opposition so much that now BJP and SP have joined hands and helped each other just to ensure the defeat of BSP candidates in the recent bypolls,” Mayawati alleged while claiming that SP specially gave more tickets to Muslims for polarisation.
