Varanasi/IBNS: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student affiliate of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has lost all four seats in the students’ union polls at Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi.

The ABVP lost all its seats to the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), which is a Congress' students organisation.

Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi congratulated the victorious candidates. “So proud of NSUI for the fantastic results at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University: 4 out of 4!! Well done!!” she tweeted.

The results were declared on Wednesday in the wake of the violence and raging controversy in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

About 20 odd people including JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh and Professor Sucharita Sen were on Sunday injured after a huge number of people armed with sticks, rods and sledgehammers barged into the university campus, girls' hostel and carried out an attack at a time the students were protesting against the fee-hike.
