'A country that bombs its own people, conducts systematic genocide': India slams Pakistan at UN

New York/IBNS: India has ripped apart Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) saying its hostile neighbour "bombs its own people" to illustrate the level of atrocities the South Asian country is steeped into.

Speaking during the Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, said Pakistan "conducts systematic genocide".

Harish said, "Every year, we are unfortunately fated to listen to the delusional tirade of Pakistan against my country, especially on Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian territory they covet. Our pioneering record on Women, Peace and Security agenda is unblemished and unscathed."

"A country that bombs its own people, conducts systematic genocide, can only attempt to distract the world with misdirection and hyperbole," he added.

India's response came after Counsellor Saima Saleen, part of the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN, said the Kashmiri women have been "for decades of occupation have endured sexual violence deployed as a weapon of war", CNN News 18 reported.

India's remark comes just after a police checkpoint was attacked by suspected terrorists in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, leaving a cop dead and a Frontier Constabulary (FC) official injured on Monday.

Several regions in KP, namely Bannu, Peshawar, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Bajaur have witnessed a rise in terror attacks in recent times where police personnel have been targeted.

KP and Balochistan have witnessed a spike in terror activities and attacks in recent months.
