6 coaches of express train derail after collision with goods rake in Tamil Nadu

Chennai/IBNS: Six coaches of an express train derailed after it collided with a goods rake in Tamil Nadu's Triuvallur district on Friday, media reports said.

At least two coaches of the express train have also caught fire and 10 injured people have reportedly been admitted to a hospital nearby.

According to media reports, some passengers have received injuries but no fatalities were recorded.

Officials said the 12578 Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Express collided with the goods train, which was a stationary one, at Kavaraipettai near Chennai around 8.30 pm.

Both national and state disaster response force (NDRF and SDRF) teams and ambulances have been rushed to the spot.

According to media reports, the crew of the express train experienced a jerk and it entered the loop line.

It was then the Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Express collided with a goods train that was stabled there.
