Uttarkashi/IBNS: A 35-year-old woman drowned in the Ganga River at Uttarkashi's Manikarnika Ghat as she was recording a video for making a reel, according to media reports.

The incident took place on April 14 when she was visiting the Manikarnika Ghat with her 11-year-old daughter.

As the woman moved closer to the riverbank for a better shot, she lost her footing and fell into the swift, strong current.

The video of the horrifying incident, seemingly captured by her sister, later surfaced online and went viral.

According to NDTV, the woman was visiting her relatives in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi.

Her daughter was heard shouting 'Mummy' as she was swept away in the current.

The local police have not yet recovered the body of the girl.

The incident is yet another grim example of unsafe filming of videos for social media content.

In July last year, an Instagram influencer died after falling into a gorge while shooting a reel near Maharashtra's Raigad.
