Kolkata, Sept 27 (IBNS): The India Story, an initiative in the sphere of contemporary Indian designs and arts, was unveiled on Friday Basubati at in Kolkata's Bagbazaar area.

The India story is an Initiative spearheaded by Madhu Neotia along with Abhilasha Sethia, Swarup Dutta and Nil, of designer Dev r Nil duo that focuses on what the contemporary Indian aesthetics and practices have to offer. It aims to showcase Indian creative talent and products that are exclusively Indian.

Speaking on the initiative Madhu Neotia said,"We have ventured into this initiative with a lot of passion and enthusiasm. it is encouraging to know that everyone wants to showcase India in all its glory. This is our maiden venture and we would like to do this every year and add moments and experiences".

The curated events will bring together the country's leading designers, art practitioners, retailers, alongside master craftsmen, thinkers, performers and gourmet food producers.

Talking about the event , scenographer Swarup Dutta, who is also the curator of the event, commented that,"Basically what we have done here today is we got a capsule of what Kolkata has to offer to Kolkata itself. Logistically it was difficult for us get everyone from across India to participate in the showcasing, but when the canvas opens on October 29, we will have different sensibilities of people merging together".

The exposition seeks to bring together the sheer variety of designing practices that the country has to offer, something the city of Kolkata has not witnessed before.

The India Story is the culmination of a dialogue between Swarup Dutta and Madhu Neotia during a trip to Jaipur, where the initial idea took shape.
