Sony launches wearable AC that you can wear under your shirt
With the mercury level touching record highs in several parts of India, people are always striving to beat the heat and fight the tough weather condition they are facing.
Air conditioners have become part of a large number of households and offices in the country.
In a futuristic move, Sony Thermo Technology Inc. released its latest wearable thermo-device kit REON POCKET 5 recently, promising users refreshed and cool amid sweltering heat.
"The fifth-generation model of the REON POCKET series will be newly launched in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the United Kingdom, in addition to Japan and Hong Kong," Sony said in a statement earlier.
The company said the device can be worn at the back of the neck to cool or warm the body surface directly at the body contact area.
" In Japan, 10,000 units of REON POCKET 4 were sold in 3 days after its launch and sold out after three months. Hong Kong exhibited a similar response with REON POCKET 4 sold out within the same period of time after its launch," the company said.
Better cooling, longer battery life
The newly designed REON POCKET 5 features an enlarged thermo-module and newly structured heat dissipation fan which offers improved cooling efficiency and airflow, resulting in up to 1.5 times higher cooling performance compared to the conventional model.
Featuring 5 COOL Levels, the device delivers powerful cooling and runs for up to 1.8 times longer – for approximately 7.5 hours at COOL Level 4. In addition, the latest REON POCKET 5 functions quietly by reducing operating noise by up to one-fifth, making it convenient to use even in quiet business environments.
Enhanced temperature control with “smart cool- warm mode”
The intuitive innovation by Sony features an enhanced “ smart cool- warm mode” function that intuitively adjusts to the ambient temperature by switching between cool and warm modes automatically, ensuring utmost comfort.
To improve the cooling function of the REON POCKET 5, the REON POCKET TAG is equipped with the latest software that detects direct sunlight, which enables RNPK–5T to quickly adjust to preset temperatures at 33% faster as compared to previous versions of the software5. Featuring 8 sensors, the REON POCKET 5 and REON POCKET TAG deliver the most accurate temperature control and can be used for up to 10 hours when used in “ smart cool- warm mode”.
The new REON POCKET 5 will be available in Singapore from May 2024 and available in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam at a later date.
