Puducherry, Apr 9 (UNI) Pondicherry Central University (PU) has improved in the ranking conducted by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

According to a University release on Tuesday, since it’s a prestigious ranking, PU has been participating in the ranking framework since 2016.

In the current year, NIRF 2019 ranking was released on April 8. The PU has improved its ranking considerably by registering 48th place with an improved overall score of 44.88 as against 42.36 scored in the previous edition of ranking, which is an improvement of 2.52 score.

The University climbed up by 11 ranks this year in comparison to the previous year where it was ranked 59th place in 2018.

The University secured not only the overall score improved in the current year but also the individual scores in each of the five parameters - teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.

This improvement was achieved despite a huge increase in the participating institutions from 957 in 2018 edition to 1479 institutions in 2019, with about 500 additional competitors added to the current year ranking that led to a heavy competition among the participating institutions in 2019.
