Vancouver: Teenage girl faces attack in train, 'hero' passenger jumps to help

Vancouver, Dec 7 (IBNS): A teenage girl, who was attacked by a man in Vancouver train, was saved by a young man whom she called "hero" passenger, media reports said.

Noor Fadel (17) was attacked by a man in a train for wearing a hijab but it was only one passenger who jumped to her help.

As Fadel said, the man yelled her in Arabic while she was commuting through a train at 10 p.m. on Monday night.

Fadel was quoted by CTV News: "He was telling me he was going to kill me, he was going to kill all Muslims, he told me to go back to my country."

"He told me to choke, and as he said that to me he tried to grab my head and force it on his crotch" she added.

She even said the man, grabbing the hijab, struck on her face, which she considered to be "extreme".

While all the other passengers were rather frightened, one man named Jake Taylor rushed to her help.

Taylor bashed the attacker and also took his pictures which later helped police to charge the suspect.

"Before I could even get there, he smacked her right in the head, right across the face or whatever" Taylor told CTV News.

He added: “I went over and gave him a shove and told him to ‘get the ‘F’ out of here."

The suspect has got off the train at the very next stop.

Spokeswoman Anne Drennan said Transit Police tracked the attacker through video surveillance.
