Bishkek, June 15 (IBNS): Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said his nation actively participates and develops close cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

"The initiatives of Uzbekistan’s leader contribute to enhancing the international authority of this structure, expanding the scope of practical cooperation," he said.

At last year’s meeting in Qingdao, the Joint Appeal by the Heads of State of the SCO to Youth and the Action Plan for its implementation were adopted.

In September, Tashkent hosted the first meeting of the heads of the SCO member states’ railway administrations. “Silk Road” International University of Tourism in Samarkand, and the Public Diplomacy Center of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tashkent have been opened.

"There are many such examples," he said.

At the meeting, the President expressed relevant opinions and important initiatives for further improving the organization’s activities, expanding partnership in investment and innovation, digitalization, transport and communications, environment, promotion of agricultural technologies, tourism and humanitarian exchanges, as well as ensuring regional security.
