US President Donald Trump suggests no deal on DACA

Washington, Apr 2 (IBNS): In a major move, US President Donald Trump on Sunday said there will be no Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA deal.

DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is a program that gives legal protection to the young immigrants, who are known as 'Dreamers'.

Dreamers were able to request “consideration of deferred action” for a period of two years, which is subject to renewal.

Nearly 800,000 undocumented youth benefit from the programme.

It was former President Barack Obama-led administrations's programme.

Trump tweeted: "Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release. Getting more dangerous. 'Caravans' coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!"

Trump also warned that North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) might be dismantled. He said Mexico is 'doing very little' in stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border and then into the U.S.

"Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!," Trump tweeted on Easter morning.

He added: "These big flows of people are all trying to take advantage of DACA. They want in on the act!."

Trump's former rival for the Republican presidential nomination, Ohio Gov John Kasich, however criticised the President over his remarks.

He tweeted: "A true leader preserves & offers hope, doesn't take hope from innocent children who call America home. Remember, today is Easter Sunday. #DACA #Hope."
