Theresa May launches manifesto of the Conservative Party for the general election in UK

London, May 19 (IBNS): The prime minister of the United Kingdom Theresa May on Thursday launched the manifesto of the Conservative Party for the general election in the United Kingdom that would take place in early June this year, after the country pulled out from European Union.

In a tweet about the launch of the manifesto, May said: "This manifesto is our plan for a stronger, fairer, more prosperous Britain."

"As we face this critical election for our country, I've launched my manifesto for Britain's future," the second female PM of UK said in an early tweet.

In the manifesto, the "five giant challenges" have been identified by the Conservatives as the need for a strong economy, Brexit and a chaging world, enduring social divisions, an ageing society and fast-changing technology.

One of the major promises made by the Conservative party in the manifesto is the building of a strong economy along with lower tax rates and free trading with the world markets.

Other promises which gathered some space in the manifesto are fairer corporate governance, built on new rules for take overs, executive pay and worker representation on company boards, employment of modern industrial strategy for growth across the country, competitive and affordable energy costs and prosperous towns and cities.

To tackle industrial challenges, the Conservatives pushed for an increased innovation and university investment funds along with the promise to back the small businesses.

May, who assumed her office in July 2016 after David Cameron resigned due to the defeat in Brexit referendum, will go to the election for the first time.

Presently the Conservatives have 330 seats as opposed to 229 seats of the Labour Party.
