Sri Lanka extends visa for foreign nationals

| @indiablooms | May 15, 2021, at 01:05 pm

The Sri Lankan government has decided to extend all types of visas for foreign nationals living in the country until 9 July, reported Colombopage. The extension was granted in the wake of Covid-19 restrictions in the country.

The periods of validity of visas of all categories obtained by the foreigners who have already visited Sri Lanka have been extended by 60 days with effect from 11th May 2021 up to 9th July 2021.

A statement released by the Immigration and Emigration Department on Thursday said only visa fees applicable for that period will be charged for the visas that expire within this period and exempted from charging overstay penalty.

As cases continue to surge, the department has ordered the suspension of several services and are operating with minimum staff. Only emergency services are allowed currently.
