Spanish PM asks workers to stop wearing ties to save energy

| @indiablooms | Jul 30, 2022, at 03:22 pm

Milan:  Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has suggested workers in private and public sectors stop wearing ties as a measure to save energy amid rising temperature.

Sanchez said his government will adopt "urgent" energy-saving measures on Monday as European countries strive to become less dependent on Russian gas in the wake of the war in Ukraine, reports BBC.

Europe has been witnessing rising temperatures for the past several weeks.

Temperatures reached 36C (96.8 F) in Madrid and 39C in Seville on Friday.

At a news conference in Madrid, Sanchez pointed out that he wasn't wearing a tie - and said he wanted his ministers, public officials, and workers in the private sector to do the same, reports BBC.

"This means that we can all save energy", he added.
