South Korea: Train derailment in Seoul leaves 30 people injured

Seoul: At least 30 passengers were injured when a train, in which they were travelling, derailed in Seoul city of South Korea on Sunday, media reports said.

The derailment occurred at 8:52 p.m., when the Mugunghwa train with 275 passengers on board was entering Yeongdeungpo Station in central Seoul, according to the Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL) as quoted by Yonhap news agency.

Six railroad cars including five passenger cars ran off the tracks, it added.

The mishap occurred when the train was on its way to Iksan.

Train operation on the line was disrupted following the derailment.

The exact reason behind the mishap is still not known.
