Seven Taliban militants killed as heroin lab busted in eastern Afghanistan - Authorities

Kabul/Sputnik: Afghan security forces have busted a clandestine drug lab run by the Taliban in the eastern Paktia province, killing seven militants and arresting three others, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.

The operation was conducted in the late hours of Friday.

"GCPSU [General Command of Police Special Unit] backed by AAF [Afghan Armed Forces] launched overnight operation in Borgi village, Ahmad Abad District of Paktia, destroying a heroin factory. Among the drugs & materials, 13,500kg of hashish, 15,00kg of poppy seeds, 5,00kg of ammunium nitrate, 3 rifles, 1 radio handset & 3 motorcycles seized," the ministry said.

The operation left seven Taliban militants killed and three others arrested, it specified.

The same night, eight Taliban militants were killed and eight others were wounded in clashes with the government forces in Andar district of central Ghazni province, the Defense Ministry reported.
