Dhaka, Jan 13 (IBNS): The United Nations on Sunday said they were ready to work with the new government in Bangladesh.

"The @UN stands ready to work with the new Govt. of #Bangladesh and other national stakeholders to further efforts towards a #peaceful and #inclusive society, good governance and the rule of law, in line with the 2030 Agenda, notably #SDG16," read a tweet posted by UN In Bangladesh.

"The @UN looks forward to #Bangladesh implementing its #humanrights commitments arising from the Universal Periodic Review and international #treaties to bring about positive change for all in the country," read another tweet.

"The @UN also welcomes the Government of #Bangladesh taking an active role as a new member of the Human Rights Council," the UN tweet said.

Bangladesh voted to elect a new government on Dec 30.
