Protesters damage grid station in Pakistan against frequent power outages

| @indiablooms | Jul 05, 2024, at 11:14 pm

Hundreds of people on Thursday targeted a grid station in Pakistan's  Sibi town and even ransacked it to demonstrate against prolonged loadshedding in the area.

Sibi was one of the towns in the country where temperature touched record high this summer.

Angry protesters carrying placards and banners gathered in front of the Sibi grid station after marching on various roads and chanted slogans against the Quetta Electricity Supply Company (Qesco) which allegedly stopped power supply for several hours during the hot weather, reported Dawn News.

The protest then turned violent as demonstrators reached the grid station and ransacked furniture and other properties.

Police and Levies personnel reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
