Kandahar, Afghanistan: Pakistani border security forces and Taliban armed forces clashed along the border in the Spin Boldak border town in Kandahar province of southern Afghanistan when an Afghan woman died during the skirmish, media reports said.

According to Mawlawi Mahmood, the Taliban chief of police for the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar, the border clash was started by Pakistani forces, and the Taliban forces reacted, reports Khaama Press.

The Taliban security official also added that gunfire from the Pakistani side killed a woman from the Afghan side.

During the conflict, both sides used heavy weapons, including mortars, according to a source in Spin Boldak.

Other than the woman from the Afghan side, no information is available about possible casualties in this conflict, reports the Afghanistan news agency.

The source told Khaama Press that after Pakistani soldiers opened fire on Afghan citizens on Wednesday evening, tensions between the Taliban and Pakistani military soared.

According to the source, Pakistan’s military also launched rockets into the air last night. The source claims that Pakistani aerial fire continued this morning, and the Taliban retaliated with gunfire. He also said that Pakistani gunfire killed the woman.
