Pakistan celebrates Independence Day today, Imran Khan wishes nation

Islamabad, Aug 14 (IBNS): WIth much patriotic zeal, Pakistan is celebrating 72nd Independence Day on Tuesday.

The day commenced with thanksgiving prayers and hoisting of the national flag at all important public buildings across the south Asian nation.

" The day began with a 31-gun salute in the capital, followed by 21-gun salutes in all four provincial capitals," Dawn News reported.

Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain is going to hoist the flag at the main celebration centre in Islamabad's Convention Centre.

Caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk, three chief's of the armed forces and other notable personalities are expected to visit the venue and attend the event.

Pakistan's Prime Minister-elect Imran Khan wished the nation on the special day of the year.

"I want all Pakistanis to celebrate 14th August, our Independence Day, with full fervour - especially as we are now moving towards Naya Pakistan & reclaiming Jinnah's vision InshaAllah," Khan tweeted.
