Over 1,000 troops deployed to Sri Lankan capital after deadly blasts - Reports

Moscow, Apr 22 (Sputnik/UNI) Sri Lanka has deployed over 1,000 servicemen to ensure the security in Colombo in the wake of deadly blasts across the South African nation, local media reported on Monday, citing the country's army.

The Air Force personnel have been dispatched to the Bandaranaike International Airport, the Ada Derana news portal specified.

Colombo was one of the cities targeted by explosions, which took place in Sri Lankan churches and luxury hotels on Easter Sunday.

According to latest media reports, over 290 people have fallen victims of the attacks. Eight people were detained in connection with the explosions.
