At least one person died after a small plane crashed into a residential building in the Minneapolis suburb in the USA on Saturday.

The plane was reportedly flying from Iowa to Minnesota when the mishap occurred.

Several videos that have gone viral online showed the house bursting into flames after the plane crashed into it.

Brooklyn Park police confirmed to FOX 9 that there were no surviving passengers on board the plane.

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed to Fox News Digital that just before 12:30 pm, a SOCATA TBM7 crashed in a residential area in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

"We do not yet know how many people were on board," the FAA said, adding that the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will continue to investigate the crash.

Local police said no one was present in the house at the time of the mishap.

Fire workers rushed to the spot and started the evacuation process.

Reacting to the mishap,  Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said, "My team is in touch with local officials on the scene in Brooklyn Park and we are monitoring the situation closely."

The US has seen several plane crashes and near-misses in recent times.

The incident happened months after a helicopter collided in Washington DC with a Bombardier aircraft operated by an American Airlines subsidiary, which was approaching for landing at Reagan National Airport, leaving 67 people dead.
