Justin Trudeau to attend trilateral summit with Joe Biden, Mexican prez in Washington DC

Washington/IBNS: An in-person trilateral meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador would be convened by the United States President Joe Biden in Washington, DC next Thursday, the White House has said.

Leaders of North America's largest nations, Trudeau, Obrador, and Biden, often referred to as the Three Amigos,  have not held a formal summit such as this since their last meeting in Ottawa in 2016.

It will also be the first summit of the three nations after their agreement to a revised North American trade deal, known in Canada as CUSMA.

The North American leaders' meeting will be a chance for the three allies to "reaffirm their strong ties and integration while also charting a new path for collaboration on ending the COVID-19 pandemic and advancing health security,"  the White House said in a statement.

The main issues that would be discussed in this summit are the ongoing health crisis, consumer prices hike with decades-high inflation rates, and
the fight against climate change to make a deal at COP26 in Glasgow to limit the increase in the global temperature to 1.5 C above pre-industrial levels.
