The Israel Defense Forces have identified Idan Shtivi, the hostage whose body was recovered from Gaza recently.

Recently, the IDF said the bodies of two hostages were recovered from Gaza during the operation.

While one of them was identified as Ilan Weiss, the identity of the other hostage was not revealed.

The second hostage was now identified as Idan Shtivi.

Sharing details, IDF wrote on X: "The body of Idan Shtivi, who was held hostage for 693 days in Gaza, was recovered in a joint IDF and ISA operation, alongside the body of Ilan Weiss."

IDF said Idan, 28, was murdered and kidnapped by Hamas terrorists from the Tel Gama area in southern Israel.

"Before his death, he acted bravely to help evacuate and save many others who attended the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023," the forces said.

The Times of Israel reported that he was murdered at the Nova music festival during the Hamas terror group’s October 7, 2023, onslaught in southern Israel.

According to reports, Idan was a photography enthusiast who was studying sustainability and government at Herzliya’s Reichman University.

His body was identified at the Abu Kabir Institute of Forensic Medicine, the newspaper reported.

PM reacts to Idan's death

In his statement, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday mourned Idan's death.

"Idan's body was abducted to Gaza by the Hamas terrorist organization. Together with the entire people of Israel, my wife and I send our heartfelt condolences to the Shtivi family," he wrote on X.
