A 51-year-old Indian-origin man has been arrested for killing a Nepali college student at Houston, Texas in the United States, media reports said.

Bobby Singh Shah, the accused, has been charged with capital murder.

He is accused of shooting Muna Pandey, 21, during his attempted robbery on August 24.

Pandey's body was recovered from her apartment with multiple gunshot wounds on Monday.

As per court records, Shah forced his entry into Pandey's place at gunpoint at 8:40 pm. The incident was captured in the camera which was placed outside the door.

Shah, who stole Pandey's mobile phone, left the apartment an hour later.

The victim was shot multiple times in the torso and in the head.

Police suspect the accused and the victim might have known each other.

The probe is still underway.
