Kyiv/IBNS: Academy award-winning American actor Sean Penn gave his Oscar to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, the latter has promised to keep it "until we win" the war, as per media reports.

The 62-year-old Hollywood actor was on his third trip to the war-torn nation, in the hope of an Ukrainian victory over the Kremlin.

"This is for you," the 'Mystic River' actor told the Ukraine President while giving him his prized possession.

Zelensky was left overwhelmed with Penn's gesture and shared this moment on Instagram.

Directing Zelensky's attention to his gesture, he said, "It’s just a symbolic, silly thing."

Speaking about the presence of his Oscar in Ukraine, he said, "But if I know this is here with you, then I’ll feel better and strong enough for the fight, as seen in a video posted by an Ukrainian Government official.

"When you win, bring it back to Malibu,” the 62-year-old performer told Zelensky.

Earlier this year, Penn was in Ukraine filming a documentary on Zelensky when Russia launched what it has been calling a "special military operation" in Ukraine.
