Emotional overload: Kremlin reacts after Trump calls Putin 'crazy'

| @indiablooms | May 26, 2025, at 04:34 pm

The Kremlin on Monday reacted to US President Donald Trump's remark, where he claimed his Russian counterpart has 'gone crazy', and said it was perhaps due to an emotional overdose that he made such a comment.

Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by BBC: “Of course, the start of the negotiation process, for which the American side made a lot of effort, is a very important achievement and we are truly grateful to the Americans and personally to President Trump for their help in organising and launching this negotiation process."

"It’s a very important achievement. Of course, at the same time this is a very important moment which is connected to an emotional overload of everyone involved and emotional reactions," he said.

Trump's Crazy Remark

US President Donald Trump called his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin 'crazy' after Moscow launched one of the biggest airstrikes on Ukraine since the war began in 2022.

Trump warned that if Putin is attempting to take full control over Ukraine, then that would lead to the downfall of Russia.

In his strongly worded message sent to Putin, Trump wrote on Truth Social: "I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!"

"He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever. I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!" he said.

UN Deplores Deadly Russian Strikes In Ukraine

The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) has deplored a deadly wave of Russian missile and drone strikes that reportedly killed at least 13 civilians and injured 65 others, warning that the attack underscores the grave risks of using powerful explosive weapons in populated areas.

According to the UN mission, the overnight assault from Saturday into Sunday – one of the largest of its kind since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022 – resulted in civilian casualties and damage to homes and infrastructure across 10 regions of Ukraine, including the capital, Kyiv.

At least three children were among those killed and nine children were reported injured. The mission is currently working to verify the full extent of the casualties and the broader impact of the attack.

“With at least 78 people reported killed or injured across the country, last night’s attack tragically demonstrates the persistent deadly risk to civilians of using powerful weapons in urban areas, including those far away from the frontline,” Danielle Bell, HRMMU Head, said in a news release on Sunday.

“It is yet another addition to the staggering human toll this war continues to inflict on civilians, with more families across the country now grieving their losses.”
