Elizabeth May rejects bullying allegations brought against her

Toronto, Jan 30 (IBNS): Federal Green Party leader Elizabeth May has dismissed all bullying allegations brought against her by some of the former employees, media reports said.

May has been alleged to bully a trio of former staffers, in a way destroying the working environment.

The party has announced a formal announcement of an investigation.

May's response to the allegations has been quoted by CTV News: "I’m not a bully. I am consistently opposed to bullying. I’ve stood up to bullying numerous times."

"When I have an opportunity to speak to an independent investigator that will become very clear. She can investigate the charges against me, which I assure you are groundless," she added.

May has asked her party to carry out an independent investigation to probe the allegations brought against her.

"I am certainly not this caricature of sort of a toxic bully, predator of people. It is so far removed from how I am in life to people that it needs to be dealt with by somebody other than me" the leader told CTV News.

"Try to think of your own workplaces. Have you ever seen anyone say, ‘What on Earth is going on here?’ And then they say, ‘Oh, look, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have lost my temper with you. I lost my cool,” she added.

Partner of Toronto law firm Torys LLP, Sheila Block will lead the inquiry.

The investigations will take around three to four weeks.
