Saint John, Oct 8 (IBNS): An explosion and fire at a oil refinery in Saint John city of Canada injured at least two people on Monday morning, media reports said.

However, the injuries were not life threatening.

The explosion has set a black, thick smoke in the sky.

Police had responded at around 10 am. People were asked to avoid the area.

Nearby streets have also been closed.

No evacuation of residents have been ordered.

New Brunswick's Horizon Health Network has been quoted by CBC News, "We're currently treating two patients with non-life-threatening injuries from the refinery explosion."
