Bus mishap leaves six dead in Bangladesh

Dhaka, May 18 (IBNS): A bus crashed into a roadside tree in Bangladesh's Bagerhat area which left at least six people dead, media reports said.

The incident left 20 others hurt.

The accident occurred in the upazila’s Kakdanga around 9:30 am on Saturday, Bagerhat Police Superintendent Pankaj Chandra told bdnews24 news portal.

Fire service personnel who conducted a rescue operation at the scene told the news portal, the driver lost control of the vehicle after one of its tyres exploded.

Sardar Masud, the deputy assistant director of the fire service, told bdnews24.com, “One of the front tyres of the bus exploded causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crashing into a tree. Five people were killed on the spot while another died on the way to the hospital,”

The bus driver, identified as Farhad, was one of the persons who lost his lives in the incident.

The injured people were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital for treatment, reports said.
