Bangladesh : Woman journalist hacked to death at doorstep of home

Dhaka, Aug 29 (IBNS) : A woman journalist of a television channel in Bangladesh was hacked to death by unidentified assailants in front of her residence in Pabna district town on Tuesday night.

The deceased, Subarna Akhter Nadi, 30, was a correspondent of private news channel Ananda TV and also worked for the Daily Jagroto Bangla newspaper, Bangladesh's leading newspaper, The New Age said.

She used to live in her rented residence in Radhanagar area of the district town.

A group of assailants hacked her indiscriminately when she was about to enter her home at about 10 05 pm (local time), police has been quoted as saying.

The other inmates of the house rushed her to Pabna Sadar Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

The reason behind the murder could not be known yet, police said.

Suborna, who is survived by a nine-year-old daughter, was awaiting divorce from her husband, the report said.
