Ban seeks justice for perpetrators of Chinese market attack

| | May 23, 2014, at 04:27 pm
New York, May 23 (IBNS): United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned Thursday's attack on civilians at an open-air market in Xinjiang, China, and said he hoped that those responsible will be brought to justice.
At least 30 people have died and more than 90 have been injured when attackers crashed two vehicles into the market and threw explosives early this morning, according to media reports.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ban, who just wrapped up an official visit to the country, expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and to the people and Government of China and wished those wounded a quick recovery.

“The Secretary-General stresses that there is no justification for the killing of civilians and hopes that those responsible will be brought to justice,” the statement added.
