Afghanistan: Suicide bombing kills 20 people, 160 injured

Gardez, Oct 17 (IBNS): At least 20 people including Patkia police chief were killed, leaving 160 others injured as a massive explosion hit Gardez area of Afghanistan on Tuesday morning, media reports said.

The explosion occurred after the Taliban militants launched coordinated attacks on the police headquarter and police training centre around 9.30 a.m..

Abdullah Hasrat, the Paktia governor’s spokesman, said most of the injured people were civilians.

"The first explosion took place in an area where people had lined up to apply for national ID cards and passports. The second blast occurred near the university hostel," Hasrat said.

He also stated that at least six attackers were killed in a retaliatory action by the Afghan forces.
