Kabul, Sept 20 (IBNS): Afghan Ambassador to India, Shaida Abdali, has resigned from his position shortly after President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani concluded a formal one day visit to the country, Afghanistan's Khaama Press reported.

In his resignation letter to President Mohammad Ashraf, Abdali has said he ends his diplomatic service abroad and will return to Afghanistan to serve the country as per the demands of the people, considering the current difficult situation.

Abdali further added that he would work in the areas of peace and national unity after his return to the country but did not elaborate further.

Abdali has also added that he was willing to submit his resignation long ago but delayed it due to the scheduled visit of President Ghani to India.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, has not formally commented in this regard so far and it is yet not clear if the resignation of Dr. Abdali has been approved or not.

Abdali has served for almost six years as the Afghan Ambassador to India.
